Business Operations Associate

Location: In-person (Tysons Corner, Virginia)

Overview

We’re building high-speed inspection systems that solve a very real problem: how do you screen bags and packages at scale without slowing everything down?

Our products (CheckStream and CargoStream) are already in use across government, venues, and eCommerce. We’ve proven the tech. Now we’re scaling the company.

I’m looking for someone to work directly with me (CEO) and the executive team to help do that.

The Role

This is not a traditional Executive Assistant role. It’s also not a fully formed Chief of Staff role (yet).

It’s something in between—and designed to grow.

In the beginning, you’ll help me stay organized and move faster:

  • Manage calendar, scheduling, and priorities for our team of 3 executives
  • Track action items and ensure follow-through
  • Sit in on key meetings and keep things moving
  • Handle coordination across customers, partners, and internal teams

If you’re good, that quickly evolves into:

  • Driving internal priorities across the company
  • Owning projects (e.g., operational and GTM initiatives, customer events)
  • Helping structure decisions and tradeoffs
  • Acting as a force multiplier for how we operate

Over time, this becomes a core operating role in the company.

Why This Role Exists

Right now, too many important things run through me.

I need someone who can:

  • Take operational load off my plate immediately
  • Help ensure things actually get done across the company
  • Grow into owning meaningful parts of the business

Who This Is For

This role is a good fit if you:

  • Are early in your career (2–6 years experience)
  • Want to be a founder / operator someday
  • Are comfortable starting with whatever is needed
  • Care more about learning and impact than title
  • Like being in the room where decisions are made

You might come from:

  • Consulting or banking and want to actually build something
  • A startup where you’ve worn multiple hats
  • A strategy / biz ops role and want more ownership
  • A structured environment (military, etc.) and want to move faster

Who This Is Not For

  • If you only want to do strategic work from day one
  • If you’re not willing to handle logistics and details
  • If you need clearly defined responsibilities at all times
  • If you prefer remote work—this role is in-person

What Matters

  • High ownership: you take things and run with them
  • Clear thinking: you can structure messy problems
  • Responsiveness: things don’t fall through the cracks
  • Low ego: no task is “beneath” you
  • Curiosity: you want to understand how the business works

What You’ll Get

  • Direct exposure to how a company is built and scaled
  • Involvement across product, customers, and operations
  • Rapid growth in responsibility if you earn it
  • A front-row seat to decisions most people don’t see

Compensation includes salary + equity.

Important

You will be expected to be in-person in our Tysons Corner office at least 3 days a week. We’re building hardware, running pilots, and working closely as a team. You’ll be embedded in that environment day-to-day. You may have opportunities to travel to trade shows and key customer engagements, but travel is not required.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary with stock options
  • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • 401K
  • Up to 4 weeks paid vacation
  • Flexible work policy

How to Apply

Send a short note to jobs@spectrohm.com (not a generic resume blast) explaining:

  • Why this role specifically
  • What you want to get out of it
  • An example of something you’ve taken ownership of

Keep it concise.
